Born in Edgar County, Illinois. Resides in Charleston, Illinois.
Elected Coles County Clerk 1986- 2006. Served as Deputy Clerk from 1971 – 1986.
Named Illinois County Clerk and Recorder of the Year in 1999, 2001, 2004 & 2006.
Awarded the Illinois County Official of the Year in 2006. Named Charleston, Illinois’ Outstanding Citizen of the Year
in 2007.
Served on the Illinois State Mandates Review Board, 1997-98; State Board of Elections Advisory Committee,
1996-98 and member of the Executive and Legislative Committee of the Illinois Association of County Clerks and
Recorders from 1990-2006.
Currently serves as Board Member of the Coles County Mental Health (708) Board; Board Member of
Eastern Illinois University Academy of Lifetime Learning; Member of U.S. Selective Service Board ;
Member of Eastern Star; VFW Ladies Auxiliary; Founding Member of the Charleston 4th of July Celebration Committee;
Past President of Charleston Zonta Club; Board Member of Coles County CASA; past Board Member of the Coalition Against
Domestic Violence; Advisory Board Member of Charleston Community Unit #1 School District’s Excellence in
Education Committee and member of The Jefferson Awards Selection Committee.
Widowed, one son, two grandsons.
