Contributors/Contributions
A contributor is any person, organization, or group that contributes something
of value to a political committee, including cash, loans, goods and services.
Types of contributions
There are five types of contributions:
- Individual contributions
- Transfers in
- Loans received
- Other receipts
- In-kind contributions (goods and/or services)
Contributors/contributions included
Political committees file reports that include itemized receipts and
expenditures. A receipt (contribution) is itemized when the contributor
has given more than $150 during the reporting period. Contributions from
contributors giving less than $150 are not itemized on committee reports, and
are therefore not included.
If a political committee files electronically, all itemized
contributor/contribution information is available.
Contributor/contribution information is typically not available for reports
filed on paper.
Itemized contributor/contribution information is available for some committees
that filed paper reports. Itemized contributions to candidates for the
Illinois House and Senate, and to candidates for statewide constitutional
office, are available for the period July 1, 1994 through June 30, 1998.
(For this subset of committees, the period July 1, 1998 to December 31, 1998
will be available in February/March 1999.) See
Contributor/Contribution Search to look up specific contributors.
